Young people are encouraged and supported to involve themselves within their communities and engage in volunteering. All projects are youth led, gaining inspiration from the young people themselves. It is the responsibility of every youth leader to design interventions that energize and inspire those affected to serve.
JAYECAN encourages social action by supporting young people to work together to effect change both in their lives and within the community, raising funds for issues they feel passionate about and organizing practical tasks. Building peace is important and so young people must learn to work together outside of their differences by using what makes them the same.
Through intergenerational practice JAYECAN aims to bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities which promote greater understanding and respect between generations and contributes to building more cohesive communities.
Targets for Impact
Young People are at the centre of all programmes; being able to identify with a talent for societal and personal development. Our programmes also prepare leaders for youth-focused interventions at the grass-root levels.
We hope to build community participation, trust and collaboration strengthened using the creative arts toward achieving communal peace and prosperity.
At the national level we hope to increase awareness and promotion around historical landmarks, art forms and other forms of folklore that they may be further preserved.
