Jamaican Youth Empowerment through Culture, Arts and Nationalism (JAYECAN) will be embarking on its second national awards ceremony, the Youth Empowerment Awards (YEA).
JAYECAN not only seeks to empower youth by bringing activities to them, but we also have decided to bring empowerment by highlighting the work of youths across Jamaica. The Youth Empowerment Awards is one attempt to raise the profile and highlight the contribution young people make in the areas of Education, Volunteerism, Arts and Culture, within Jamaica. These awards recognize young people whose commitment to social action within Jamaica has made a difference to the lives of others.
Designed to help celebrate the role of young people as nation builders and partners in social action, the Awards offer young people under 30 an opportunity to share their contribution and inspire others. This work should never go un-noticed, during the ceremony, the awardees will share their experiences in youth development and empowerment work.
The awards are not limited or biased to any specific parish, community school, gender, race, or sexuality. Anyone within the ages of 12 to 30 years old, living in Jamaica can apply or be nominated for the YEA.
- Nominees must be of Jamaican Nationality
- Must be between the ages of 12 and 30 years’ old
- Nominees must be prepared to attend an interview at a date to be announced
- JAYECAN reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the disbursement of awards to nominees.
